It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the chance.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was dismissed her side needed 66 more at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
