“That was unfortunate. It was essentially an interaction with our fans seated near me,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, our fans. The whole venue was filled with excitement for the Cowboys.”
Jones additionally clarified that the gesture was entirely accidental, happening amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I just put up the wrong finger,” he noted. “It was accidentally done. This is sincere. If you want to call it accidental, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”

This is not the first time an league proprietor has been penalized for inappropriate behavior. Recent cases involve:
- Panthers proprietor Tepper was penalized $300K for tossing a beverage at spectators in January 2024.
