Thousands Experiencing Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Weather Systems
Around 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast were left without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the state, bringing powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Locals reported large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the widespread outages.
Southern State's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its wettest day in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

During the peak on the previous day, more than 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across various areas of both regions.
Medical Alert
Public health experts warned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after past events where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the area.
