Vinted Shoppers Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
